CINNAMINSON, NJ — The opioid overdose reversal drug naloxone (commonly called Narcan) will be available for free to residents without a prescription at a Walmart in Cinnaminson from Sept. 24-26 as part of a statewide effort to combat the opioid crisis. The Cinnaminson Walmart is located at 2501 Route 130 South.

"The opioid crisis is one that New Jersey will continue to try to combat to help reduce the abuse of these drugs," Cinnaminson police said in a social media post announcing the free distribution.

Naloxone blocks the opioids' impact on the brain, thus reversing the effects of an overdose, officials said. Those who obtain naloxone will also be given information regarding addiction treatment and recovery. The naloxone will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis while supplies last.
