Health Food Service Picks Up Man's $1,600 Uber Tab

Kenneth Bachman started a GoFundMe page to help pay his tab. That money will now go to Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

The South Jersey man who went online to ask for help paying for a $1,600 bill he received when he fell asleep in an Uber that took him from West Virginia to New Jersey is getting some financial help after all.

It’s just not coming from a source he expected.

Eat Clean Bro, a healthy food company that delivers to towns in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York, is picking up the $1,645.93 bill Kenneth Bachman incurred for an unwanted trip from Morgantown, West Virginia, to Sewell, New Jersey.

“Kenny Bachman you are most definitely a bro, but we stand behind you not driving drunk, no matter how expensive your night turned out to be,” the company said in a Facebook post. “Our company has dozens of drivers who depend on motorists staying sober and safe.”

Bachman was at a party in West Virginia, when he decided to call an Uber for a ride back. He was looking to go back to where he was staying in West Virginia, but accidentally asked the Uber driver to take him home, to Sewell. He passed out in the car and was unable to correct his mistake.

He tried to fight the charges, but lost that fight, so he launched the "Help Out Kenny Bachman" GoFundMe page to help him raise money. That wasn’t well-received by commenters, who blasted himfor taking advantage of a service others use to recover from tragedy and battle disease.

Eat Clean Bro has a solution for that, too. The company is encouraging people to contribute to the fund, and the money will be donated to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (M.A.D.D.). As of Thursday afternoon, the page has raised $695.

“Please think before you drive drunk,” Eat Clean Bro said in its post. “Uber is just a call away.”
