Upon smelling smoke and seeing fire, residents evacuated the two buildings. Local residents of the complex went door-to-door notifying residents to get out of their apartments and escape the fast moving/spreading fire, said Police Chief Gene J. DiFilippo

Both of the buildings that were involved in the fire were very severely damaged, and the fire caused the destruction of most of the property belonging to every resident, the chief said.

Residents were told to stay away from the site on Wednesday and Thursday because it was too dangerous.
