Man Indicted In Sexual Assault Of NJ Woman Near I-295: Prosecutor

MOUNT LAUREL, NJ — A Philadelphia man has been indicted in connection with the sexual assault of a woman in a wooded area near the I-295 ramp in Mount Laurel that took place over the summer, authorities announced.

Donald Cramer Jr., 53, has been indicted on two counts of first-degree attempted aggravated sexual assault; two counts of first-degree kidnapping; first-degree robbery; second-degree attempted sexual assault; third-degree aggravated assault; third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose; third-degree terroristic threats; third-degree resisting arrest; and fourth-degree prohibited weapons and devices, according to authorities.

On June 6, Cramer grabbed a woman who was walking along Route 73 in Mount Laurel and dragged her to a wooded area near the I-295 ramp, according to Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina.

At the same time, John Bishop was driving by and witnessed the abduction, authorities said. The Burlington County resident immediately stopped his car, got out and went to help the woman.

He rescued the victim from Cramer, and was able to subdue him until Mount Laurel Township police arrived. Police then arrested Cramer, according to authorities. The victim was treated and released from an area hospital.

“Mr. Bishop took immediate action without regard for his own safety to prevent further abuse to the victim,” Coffina said. “His selfless actions were the epitome of bravery and concern, and we greatly appreciate him coming to her rescue.”
