Man Who Threatened To Shoot Up School On House Arrest: Report

Jacob Finklestein's arrest came one day after the school shootings in Florida.

A South Jersey man who threatened to “shoot up” Eastern Regional High School has reportedly been placed on strict house arrest. Jacob Finkelstein, 18, of Voorhees, has been charged with one count of second-degree false public alarm and one count of third degree terroristic threats.

He was arrested on Feb. 15, after multiple students reported that they heard him saying he was going to shoot up the school, police said. After learning of the threats, police arrested Finkelstein and searched his home. No weapons were found at the home, according to Voorhees Police Capt. Captain Carmen Del Palazzo.

On Thursday, he was placed under house arrest and electronic monitoring, the Courier Post reports. His Internet access is also restricted, and he is not allowed to have contact with anyone at his high school.

Finklestein's arrest came one day after a former student opened fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, killing 17 people.

At the same time, the high school’s principal is under fire for the school’s response to the threat. During a school security Monday night at Voorhees Middle School, students claimed Eastern Regional High School Principal Robert Tull ignores their concerns. As of Friday afternoon, a change.org petition calling for Tull’s immediate resignation had collected over 500 signatures.
