'Once Upon A Mattress' At Cinnaminson Middle School Next Month

"Once Upon A Mattress" offers another take on "The Princess and the Pea."

CINNAMINSON, NJ — You’ll never look at the story of “The Princess and The Pea” the same way again. The Cinnaminson Middle School Pirate Players will present “Once Upon A Mattress,” a tale which tells the true story of the classic fairy tale.

Did you know, for instance, that Princess Winnifred actually swam the moat to reach Prince Dauntless the Drab? Or that it may not have been the pea at all that caused the princess a sleepless night? Carried on a wave of beguiling songs, by turns hilarious and raucous, romantic and melodic, this rollicking spin on the familiar classic of royal courtship and comeuppance provides for some side-splitting shenanigans.

“Once Upon A Mattress” runs on Feb. 23 at 8 p.m.; Feb. 24 at 8 p.m.; Feb. 25 at 2 p.m.; March 2 at 8 p.m.; and March 3 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. All shows will be at the Cinnaminson Middle School Auditorium, 312 North Forklanding Road in Cinnaminson. The show is double-casted and includes 60+ students between the two casts and crew.
