Poet Major Jackson To Hold Reading At Rowan College At Burlington County

Jackson's "Roll Deep" has been described as a remixed Odyssey whose speaker rolls deep the same way Odysseus did as he warred far from home

Rowan College at Burlington County’s English & Literature department and the office of Student Life will host a poetry reading with Major Jackson on Tuesday, March 7 in the college’s TEC Lounge, 5 p.m.

Jackson will read from his latest collection of poetry called, “Roll Deep.” The New York Times called “Roll Deep” a remixed Odyssey whose speaker rolls deep the same way Odysseus did as he worried and warred far from home, by staying true to where he’s from.

Jackson is the Richard Dennis Green and Gold Professor at University of Vermont and a core faculty member of the Bennington Writing Seminars. He served as a creative arts fellow at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University, as the Jack Kerouac Writer-in-Residence at University of Massachusetts-Lowell and currently serves as the Poetry Editor of the Harvard Review.
