Proposed Cinnaminson Budget Includes Tax Cut

The public hearing and final vote is set for May 15.

CINNAMINSON, NJ — The average Cinnaminson homeowner will see a tax cut of $25.10 under a $14.9 million proposed budget recently introduced by Cinnaminson Township Committee. The budget will decrease property taxes overall by $189,394. The public hearing and final vote on the budget will take place at the May 15 committee meeting, 6:30 p.m. at the municipal building.

“I am proud to announce that with fiscal restraint and an eye to the future we have crafted a budget that will cut taxes for our residents while continuing to make Cinnaminson a better place to raise a family, start a business, and retire with dignity,” Cinnaminson Mayor Anthony Minniti said. “This tax cut was achieved without any layoffs or service reductions. In fact, we have enhanced our commitment to public safety by funding four new police officers and nearly one million dollars in needed roadway improvements.”

The announced budget also maintains the township’s bond rating and falls $900,137 under the State Appropriation CAP. Township Auditor Robert P. Nehila Jr. of Bowman & Company LLP voiced support for the budget proposal.

“In formulating this year’s municipal budget, Cinnaminson developed a two year look ahead to conservatively forecast ratables and project budgetary needs,” Nehila said. “This approach provided the foundation in developing a stable budget for 2017 and a platform for 2018.”

In addition to investments for public safety, the budget includes $80,000 for a new soccer field at Memorial Park and $25,000 for important renovations and upgrades at the township library.

“With the adoption of this budget, Cinnaminson residents will continue to pay, on average, 25% less in local taxes than our neighbors in Delran, Palmyra, Riverton, Maple Shade and Edgewater Park,” Minniti said.
