RCBC President Faces Discrimination Complaint

Paul Drayton was placed on administrative leave for an undisclosed complaint, according to published reports.

Rowan College at Burlington County’s president has taken a leave of absence because he is facing a discrimination complaint, according to published reports. During a special meeting on Aug. 30, the college announced Paul Drayton was taking a temporary leave of absence, but didn’t disclose the reason at the time. Michael Cioce was appointed Acting President in Drayton’s absence.

On Tuesday night, the college appointed attorney Michael D. Schaller to conduct an internal investigation into a complaint filed by a college employee on Aug. 24, the Courier Post reports. The complaint was filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, which handles civil rights laws on discrimination and harassment in the workplace. Details of the complaint have not been made public.

While on leave, the 57-year-old Mount Laurel resident will continue to be paid, philly.com reports. Drayton makes $203,206 a year. The former Burlington County Administrator became college president in 2015. He is also the former head of the Delaware River Port Authority, but left that agency in 2003 amid turmoil among the commissioners.
