RCBC's Second Science Slam Set For Sunday
It is part of the week-long Philadelphia Science Festival.

Rowan College at Burlington County will host its second annual Science Slam on Sunday, April 22, noon to 4 p.m. This event, part of the Philadelphia Science Festival, is free and open to the public.
The Philadelphia Science Festival, a week-long celebration that takes place in April. The event features informal science experiments, lectures, debates, and hands-on activities. Activities aim to stimulate interest in STEM and inspire the next generation of engineers, scientists and health professionals.
Rowan College at Burlington County’s Science Slam includes hands-on science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) and health-related activities on its Mount Laurel Campus. Participants will enjoy drone flying, robot fighting and toy car racing, and learn about blood typing, nutrition, crime scene investigations and the evolution of measurements. They can travel to the space station with the help of virtual reality.

“As a former trustee of Rowan College at Burlington County, I am proud of how the college has expanded the way in which we educate our students and job seekers through its state-of-the-art science and technology programs,” Burlington County Freeholder Deputy Director Linda Hughes, who serves as the college’s liaison, said. “Events like Science Slam are an excellent way to get students and the community excited about the growing future of science, technology, engineering, mathematics and health related industries.”
“This really is a great event for all ages and all scientific interests,” Rowan College at Burlington County Acting President Michael Cioce said. “Last year we had more than 600 attendees and hope to have even more come out for some science activities that are fun for all ages.”

In addition to Science Slam, the college will host a Star Party from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.on Friday, April 20, on the Mount Laurel Campus. Local astronomers will bring dozens of telescopes to campus for participants to stare at the stars, contemplate the constellations and be amazed by astronomy.
“Our faculty members and community partners have put together a program that will truly have something for everyone,” RCBC STEM Dean Dr. Edem Tetteh said. “We really hope this engaging and fun event will inspire a new generation of scientists.”
