Report: Former Burlington County Freeholder to Seek Assembly Seat

Former Burlington County Freeholder Joseph Howarth is returning to the political arena after he withdrew from the fall’s freeholder race due to his battle with Crohn’s Disease
Howarth is pursuing an open seat in the State Assembly, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Howarth will run with incumbent Maria Rodriguez-Gregg in the Republican primary, according to the report.

No Democrats have announced their intentions to run, although longtime Democratic incumbents Herb Conaway and Troy Singleton are expected to run, according to the report.
The deadline to register is March 30.

Howarth was elected to the Freeholder Board in 2011 after serving as a Councilman in Evesham Township. He is in his seventh consecutive year serving the Lenape Regional School District as a Para-professional in Seneca High School’s Special Education Department.
He served the final four months of his term, which expired in January.
