Rowan College To Offer Virtual Live Option For On-Campus Courses

Most Rowan College at Burlington County classes that are scheduled to take place on-campus will begin as virtual-live for the fall semester.

BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ — Most Rowan College at Burlington County classes that are scheduled to take place on-campus will begin as virtual-live for the fall semester as the school reopens amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“Our plan to resume a greater number of on-campus courses depends on the state advancing to Stage 3,” the college said in a statement on its website. “Without that notification in place, as well as recent health trends, we’ve decided to start the semester on August 28 under our Stage 2 plan regardless of the state’s status.”

There will be a few limited exceptions, such as health sciences, labs and hands-on courses. The list of on-campus courses can be found on the college’s website.

Courses that begin as virtual live will offer a different experience than what was offered in the spring, according to college officials.

Classes will meet for group discussions at the scheduled time via video conferencing to provide a greater amount of interaction between instructors and students.

The college said it will notify students at least two weeks before they are expected to return to campus to allow ample time for transition, regardless of when the state announces Stage 3.

The college will also provide updates at least every two weeks. The number of on-campus classes will not increase before Sept. 30.

“Because some staff and students will be on campus during Stage 2, we will continue to share messaging about on-campus protocols. We have made significant investments in technology and safety enhancements,” Rowan College at Burlington County President Dr. Michael A. Cioce said. “If you need any help registering for classes or updating your course schedule, we offer live assistance virtually from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, with extended hours through 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
