School is ending and many people think the spread of head lice will take a break too. However kids will be interacting with one another during the summer months. Without a school nurse to check the kids’ heads during summer break, parents have the task of examining their children’s heads.
Tips on checking their head consist of having a good light source. Sunlight is great! Sit outside when checking. Also it’s helpful if the head is damp. Lice can move quickly on a dry head, up to 9 inches per minute. Finally having a good lice comb will help remove nits(eggs) from the hair.
Have a great summer!!
