Wawa President To Speak At RCBC Graduation Ceremony

Chris Gheysens will serve as the Commencement Speaker at Rowan College at Burlington County's 47th graduation ceremony this spring.

Wawa President and CEO Chris Gheysens will serve as the Commencement Speaker at Rowan College at Burlington County’s 47th graduation ceremony this spring, the college announced on Wednesday.

“We are delighted that Mr. Gheysens will be part of Rowan College at Burlington County’s annual celebration of students who transformed their lives through education,” Rowan College at Burlington County President Paul Drayton said. “As one of our Classroom to Career partners, Rowan College at Burlington County has a lot in common with Wawa: we’re growing quickly, embrace change with innovation and exist to serve others.”

Graduation is set for Saturday, May 20, on the college’s main campus in Mount Laurel.

“I continue to be impressed by the entire community that makes up Rowan College at Burlington County,” Gheysens said. “RCBC is truly a model for accessibility, higher education and lifelong learning. It is truly an honor and a privilege to have the opportunity to join so many students on such a special day.”

Gheysens was also the Keynote Speaker for Celebration of Philanthropy in 2014.

Last year, Wawa and Rowan College at Burlington County formed an educational partnership that provides additional benefits to Wawa associates who attend RCBC.

“The transformative power of education can have great impact on individuals and organizations,” Gheysens said. “With its Rowan University partnership and Workforce Development Institute, the Classroom to Career pathway is stellar at Rowan College at Burlington County.”

Some recent keynote speakers include Pulitzer Prize winning poet Gregory Pardlo and Rep. Tom MacArthur (R-3).

Rev. Aaron McCullough, pastor of the Calvary Bible Baptist Church will deliver the invocation. Rowan College at Burlington County is partnering with the church to send supplies to schools being established in Africa.
