Westfield Friends School Eighth Graders are off to High School

Graduation was Friday, June 5.

Nine eighth graders graduated from Westfield Friends School on Friday, June 5, and will attend area high schools in the fall.

This includes Ethan Barr, of Cinnaminson, who will attend Moorestown Friends School.

Other schools on the list include Moorestown High School, Merion Mercy Academy, Rancocas Valley Regional High School and Shawnee High School.

“The eighth graders write their own graduation speeches and work very hard to refine and rehearse their speeches prior to graduation,” Valerie Parry, Westfield’s 7th and 8th grade English and History teacher, said.

This year’s topics included the meaning of both existentialism and humanism, as well as the challenges awaiting them in high school and beyond.

They spoke of their favorite Westfield memories and best friends and they shared some family stories and introspective thoughts about their own individual personalities, Parry said.
