Woman Helped South Jersey Man Evade Capture After Murder: Cops
Police believe a woman helped a man avoid being captured immediately after he fatally shot a man inside a car in October.
Thomas A. Thompson approached a car that was driving along a Burlington City street and shot into the front window, killing the front seat passenger on Oct. 6, 2018, authorities believe. Two days later, he was captured in Bordentown.
In between, police believe he had help evading capture. Now, he and his accomplice are facing indictments connected to the alleged murder as well as drug possession, according to Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina.
Thompson, 40, and 41-year-old Marla Tucker were living together on Union Street in Burlington City when Thompson was charged with killing 37-year-old Hubert Moore Jr., of Burlington City, Coffina said.

Moore was the passenger in a car that was driving near the intersection of Barclay and York streets at about 1:30 a.m. when Thompson shot him, Coffina said. The only other person in the car was the driver, and that person was uninjured, Coffina said.
Moore was taken to Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County in Willingboro, where he was pronounced dead about a half hour later. Tucker helped Thompson evade capture immediately after the shooting, Coffina said.

Thompson was arrested two days later by the Burlington County Sheriff’s Department Warrant Unit and the U.S. Marshal’s Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force.
In January, Thompson was indicted on charges of first-degree murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and second-degree certain persons not to have weapons.
This week, both were indicted on charges that include third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) after police discovered a quantity of cocaine during a search of their home, Coffina said.
Tucker was additionally indicted on third-degree hindering apprehension, Coffina said.
