1 Killed, 1 Injured In Fiery Crash On I-78 In Union: Police
A BMW crashed into the rear of a tractor-trailer early Wednesday morning causing both to burst into flames, New Jersey State Police said.
UNION, NJ — One driver was killed and a passenger was hospitalized following a fiery crash on I-78 early Wednesday morning.
At 3 a.m., a BMW 328 was driving behind a tractor-trailer in the local lanes on the eastbound side, New Jersey State Police Trooper Alejandro Goez said.
The BMW then hit the back of the tractor-trailer at milepost 52.6 in Union Township causing both to become engulfed in flames, Goez said.

The driver of the BMW, Kabeem Buckham, 29, of Maplewood, was killed as a result of the crash. His passenger Tamu Waluye, 28, of Maplewood suffered minor injuries and was taken to University Hospital, Goez said.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

The highway was shut down for about four hours during the investigation and cleanup.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
