Clark's 1st Positive Coronavirus Case Announced

Clark Township has joined the list of towns with cases of the new coronavirus, after the first positive case in the township was announced.

CLARK, NJ — Clark Township has joined the list of towns with cases of the new coronavirus, after the first positive case in the township was announced Thursday by Mayor Sal Bonaccorso.

"I'm sorry to inform you that Clark Township has received our first positive case of COVID 19. I understand this will create concern amongst many of you, and you may have several questions. Please understand as per HIPAA Laws, we cannot divulge any information. I ask that you all continue to take precautions, and listen to our health professionals," Bonaccorso said.

Murphy announced 318 new cases of the coronavirus Thursday, raising the state total to 742. The virus has killed nine in New Jersey as of Thursday afternoon. Read more: Gov. Phil Murphy: 4 More NJ Coronavirus Deaths, 318 New Cases

Union County currently has 28 positive cases as of Thursday.

Murphy also ordered the closure of personal-care businesses by 8 p.m. Thursday. These include barber shops, salons, spas and tattoo parlors. (See Related: Gov. Phil Murphy: NJ Barbers, Salons, Spas Must Close)
