Power Restored In Clark, Garwood After Widespead Outage

Update: "Crews on location have confirmed there was equipment failure at the substations in Cranford and Clark," PSE&G said.

CLARK, NJ — Power has since been restored to more than 9,000 PSE&G customers, including 2,000 in Clark and Garwood, who were without power on Monday afternoon following a widespread outage in Union County.

The outage had affected customers in Clark, Cranford, Garwood, Kenilworth, Linden, Rahway, Roselle, Roselle Park, Union, and Westfield. Power has since been restored as of 2 p.m. to most of the towns. Westfield still has about 200 without power as of 2:12 p.m.

"Crews on location have confirmed there was equipment failure at the substations in Cranford and Clark. Restoration efforts have started and crews will begin to restore power to customers as soon as possible," PSE&G Spokeswoman Rebecca Mazzarella previously said.

PSE&G had expected power to be restored the earliest by 1:45 p.m. and latest by 5 p.m. on Monday.

"Power outage throughout most of Clark and Union County. Some traffic control lights are not operational, be careful driving. Please do not call the police with non emergency calls," Clark Police previously said.

  • Cranford - 4,041
  • Garwood - 511
  • Kenilworth - 27
  • Linden - Fewer than 5
  • Rahway - Fewer than 5
  • Roselle - 85
  • Roselle Park - 1,829
  • Union - Fewer than 5
  • Westfield - 1,167
