Clark, Garwood Schools Awarded $150K In Total In Coronavirus Aid

CLARK/GARWOOD, NJ — Clark Public Schools will receive roughly $124,000 and Garwood roughly $25,000 as part of the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

Union County Vocational School also received $163,000.

Specifically the money was awarded through a section of the CARES Act under the Elementary Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Fund.

The money is to help school districts address the areas most impacted by the disruption and closure of schools caused by the coronavirus.

Clark schools have been closed on March 13 when remote learning was implemented. Gov. Phil Murphy announced on May 4 that schools will close for the rest of the academic year because of the coronavirus outbreak. Read More: New Jersey Schools Closed For Rest Of Academic Year: Gov. Murphy

Currently Clark is trying to determine what type of graduation will be held for seniors as Murphy announced on Wednesday to allow New Jersey high schools will be allowed to hold outdoor graduations — so long as participants remain in their cars.
