Air Monitoring Underway After Union County Fire
The two-alarm fire broke out on Friday around 9:15 a.m. in Linden.

LINDEN, NJ — The Union County Hazmat team is monitoring the air after a fire spread toward some chemical transport tanks in Linden on Friday morning.
The two-alarm fire broke out around 9:15 a.m. at 4200 Tremley Point Road. It started on a fork lift and spread toward some chemical transport tanks stacked nearby, Linden Police said.
Heavy smoke conditions caused workers from several surrounding buildings to be evacuated. The Linden Fire Department extinguished the fire less than an hour later, police said.

Union County Hazmat personnel is continuing to conduct air monitoring in the area as a precaution. There is no hazard to the public, police said.
Union County Fire Mutual Aid units, including engines from the Elizabeth, Rahway, Roselle, Cranford, and Union Fire Departments also helped at the scene.
