GARWOOD, NJ — The Garwood Fire Department was busy last night as they rescued multiple people trapped in their cars trying to drive through flooded roadways.
Firefighters said they "responded to multiple calls in town for flooding, and also performed three water rescues for people who got trapped in their car and weren’t able to make it through the water."
Heavy rain on Monday night caused South Avenue to flood and close in multiple places including between Maple Street and Center Street and Lincoln Avenue and East Street. The roadways were reopened just before 1 a.m.
