Speeders, Stop Sign Violators Prompt Police To Step Up Enforcement In Garwood

Residents on Locust Avenue have complained to police about speeders, stop sign violators and vehicles failing to yield to pedestrians.

GARWOOD, NJ — Garwood Police are stepping up enforcement on Locust Avenue after receiving complaints from residents.

Residents on the 400 block of Locust Avenue have complained to police about speeders, stop sign violators and vehicles failing to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks, said Garwood Police.

As a result, police named Locust Avenue as the Street of the Week.

"Officers have been in the area addressing these issues and will continue to enforce all motor vehicle laws to make our roadways safer," said police.

Last week, the borough held a virtual public safety forum and discussion to discuss recent trends in Garwood crime statistics, preventing crime, traffic safety, and pedestrian safety.

The speakers includes Garwood Mayor Sara Todisco, Police Chief James Wright and Borough Administrator Kyle Harris.
