Ice Cream Sundaes at Garwood Library and Blizzards at Dairy Queen

Five things you need to know today, Thursday, August 11.

  1. The annual closing ceremonies for the Garwood Library’s Summer Reading program will take place today at 2 p.m. This event is for Children's Summer Reading Program participants. Reading logs, certificates and a few surprises will be on hand.
  2. Today is "" at participating New Jersey Dairy Queen locations. Simply purchase a Blizzard® Treat today and Dairy Queen will donate $1 or more to a local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital to help sick and injured children. Bring hope and healing to local kids; join DQ in helping make miracles happen.
  3. Come to the Crossroads for tonight for the area's freshest and hottest bands and live music acts. Crossroads has New Jersey's hottest night of live music every Thursday night. Tonight’s lineup: Jay Tambor Band, Station Baby, Garden State Line and Comedy Jam.
  4. town wide today. Recyclable collection is every other Thursday. Items collected include newspaper, mixed paper, corrugated cardboard, glass and plastic, aluminum and tin cans. Residents should place recyclables curbside in containers before 7 a.m. For optimal recycling capability, rinse all recyclables and remove lids. 
  5. Tiny Tots Therapy Group, Inc. of Scotch Plains is hosting a , the nation's largest autism science and advocacy organization tonight at 7 p.m. Come to the Shannon Rose Irish Pub for great food, great fun, drink specials, raffles, all for a great cause.
