Linden Cop Car Crashes, Officer Taken To Hospital

The Linden Police Officer was responding to a fight when they got into an accident with a car and was taken to the hospital for injuries.

LINDEN, NJ — A Linden Police Officer who was responding to a fight got into an accident and was taken to the hospital for injuries, authorities said.

On Saturday at around 10 p.m., the officer was driving to the 100 block of N. Wood Avenue on a report of a fight when the cop car crashed with a 2014 Toyota Camry at the intersection of E. Elizabeth Avenue and Bower Street, Linden Police Lt. Christopher Guenther said.

The officer was taken to Newark University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The other driver, a 27-year-old woman from Elizabeth, was extricated from the car by the Linden Fire Department and was also taken to Newark University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Guenther said.

The crash is being investigated by the Union County Police Traffic Enforcement Unit, and anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Dalrymple or Rodrigues at 908-654-9804.
