Linden Councilman To Shave Head On Live Video To Support Nurses
John Francis Roman may shave his head, beard and possibly his eyebrows if enough money is raised for Nurse Appreciation Week.

LINDEN, NJ —Linden Councilman John Francis Roman is putting his locks on the line to raise money for nurses as part of Nurse's Appreciation Week. To up the ante, Roman says he will raise his head, beard and possibly his eyebrows if enough money is raised.
"During this COVID-19 outbreak, we all know how hard nurses have been working. Their dedication is saving lives. They are literal heroes," Roman said.
If Roman can raise $2,000 for the nurses in the area, he will buzz his hair on Facebook Live. If he can raise $2,500 the beard is coming with it too.

Someone even dared Roman to shave his eyebrows if he raised $10,000. Roman said "if somehow that much money is raised you all can have them too."
This fundraiser is very close to Roman's heart.

"I studied government and later ran for office to try and make my parent's situation better. My father broke his neck when I was only 5 and it was a struggle for our family every day. After 100 days in the hospital starting in November, my father lost his decades long battle with his health on Feb. 2, Roman said. "The only reason we were given those 100 final days was because of the compassionate care we received from hundreds of nurses and other medical professionals. There are so many nurses out there who are quarantined away from their families, working shift after shift as hard as they can trying to save lives. They are literal heroes. They all deserve the recognition and they deserve our support."
Proceeds will go towards nursing-related charities and FLAG Groups in Union County.
Nurse's Appreciation Week runs from May 6 to 12. Roman will continue to raise funds until May 12 and then shave his hair live on Facebook on May 12. To donate to Roman's fundraiser click here.
