New Thrift Store Chain To Open In Union
2nd Ave Value Store will employ more than 30 refugees from various countries at their new Union location opening Oct. 24.

UNION, NJ — 2nd Ave Value Store, a thrift chain offering secondhand clothing, household goods, and collectibles, will open its new Union store at the former ShopRite site located at 2661 Morris Ave. on Thursday, Oct. 24.
The celebration begins at 8:50 a.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony to be attended by members of the Union Chamber of Commerce Administration and Board of Directors, along with the governing body of the Township, the Union High School marching band, members of the local community and 2nd Ave Value Stores management, including CEO Tony Peressini.
There will be refreshments from a local food and beverages vendor available.

Following a special performance by the marching band, 2nd Ave will present Band Director Michael Hamilton with a $1,000 grant to further develop the student program.
In partnership with the International Rescue Committee (IRC), 2nd Ave Value Stores’ Union location will employ more than 30 refugees from various countries to assist in their resettlement journeys and long-term economic well-being.

"We are excited to partner with the International Rescue Committee and welcome these hardworking individuals into our 2nd Ave family, just as the community of Union has welcomed us," said Peressini. "It is our mission to become an integral part of the community and serve for years to come."
The new store is located at the former Shop-Rite and features a "revolutionary upscale design."
The store offers a library lounge complete with a wide collection of books, luxury shoe wall, organized merchandise displays and expedited check out compatible with cash, credit and Apple Pay.
The store will be open Monday, Thursday, and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
