Readers' Choice, Best Garwood Deli Winner: Al's Prime Meats

Owned and operated by the Rimondi family for more than 20 years, Al Rimondi is proud of the personal attention he gives each of his customers at this family-owned store. Besides a variety of butcher-quality meats, cold cuts and salads, Al's customers can sit down for a slice of pizza in the dining area. Al's also provides catering for all occasions.

Manager and head chef A.J. (Al Jr.) Rimondi says customer service is key to Al's success.

"We treat all of our customers like family," says Rimondo. "We take pride in what we do and we don't take any shortcuts. We make everything here and we cook out of love. I love what I do – cooking is my passion."

Rimondi says customers are loyal to Al's because of the consistency of service and product. "We know 90 percent of our customers and we always want to make things right for them. We do everything from scratch – we even make our own bread."

Rimondi says the roast beef is the top seller at Al's. "We sell 40 to 50 lbs. of roast beef a day," says Rimondi. "It's storemade and lots of customers come first thing in the morning to get it hot."
