Students At These New Jersey Schools May Be Better College-Prepared Than Anybody

These N.J. high schools performed the best on Advanced Placement tests, perhaps making their students more college-prepared than anybody.

It's the last thing you have to do before your senior walks in graduation.

The college or profession has been picked. So what else is there to do?

Right now, many are scrambling to take those tests that, if they score high enough, could give them credits before they even walk through the door of their college.

High school students take Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exams to try to earn college credit for classes in history, math, languages, sciences, English, and electives, and New Jersey Spotlight has put together a list of the 10 schools that performed the best (see below).

The tests are usually taken by students who took AP or IB classes in high school, and these results are from 2014-2015 school year provided the Department of Education's School Performance Reports.

Almost 115,000 AP and IB tests were taken in the past school year - about 27,000 more than just two years earlier.

Here are the New Jersey public high schools with the highest percentage of students who got at least a 3 on the AP tests or a 4 on the IB exams (72.4 percent was the state average):

  1. Monmouth County Vocational's High Technology High School 99.4 percent
  2. South Hunterdon Regional High School 97.9 percent
  3. Union County Magnet High School 97.8 percent
  4. Academy of Allied Health and Science 97.6 percent
  5. Millburn High School 97 percent
  6. Communications High School 95.5 percent
  7. Bergen County Academies 95.2 percent
  8. Hopewell Valley Central High School 94.9 percent
  9. Ridge High School 94.7 percent
  10. West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South 94.5 percent
