The officer stopped Brown on Route 130 north near Alabama Road at about 9:41 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29.
While the officer attempted to identify the driver, the driver attempted to escape by driving away, and crashed into a parked car, police said.

A brief struggle soon ensued, and the officer shot the driver, identified as Brown, once in a lower extremity, according to police.

Brown was taken by ambulance to Cooper Medical Center, where he was treated and released. He was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

The officer was not injured, and was placed on administrative leave.

Bail for Brown was set at $100,000, 10 percent following the announcement of the weapons charges on Wednesday.

The incident remains under investigation by the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.
