Author's New Book Features Borough Mentions
Robert Strauss' new book, "Daddy's Little Goalie," is colored by his many memories in Collingswood.

Robert Strauss grew up in Cherry Hill, and now lives in Haddonfield.
But just because he never lived in Collingswood doesn't mean his new book, Daddy's Little Goalie, is void of borough reference.
In fact, the author said the work is speckled with borough nods, a sentiment to the many memorable visits Strauss paid to Collingswood throughout his life.

"Though I (lived in nearby towns), there is a bit of Collingswood in (my new book)," said Strauss. "'s Quiz Night is one of the haunts (mentioned within)."
A featured selection of Barnes & Noble Booksellers this month, Daddy's Little Goalie is Strauss' own comedic, yet emotional, memoir.

"(The book is) about being the dad of girl jocks—not Venus and Serena Williams—but every dad and every girl," said Strauss, who said he recently filmed a promotional segment for the book with his daughters, for the noon show of the local CBS affiliate.
Strauss' professional roster is dotted with experience in news mediums of all kinds. He's worked in magazines, as a Sports Illustrated reporter; in newspapers, as a Philadelphia Daily News feature writer; and even television, as a KYW-TV sports producer. Strauss also acted as a television critic for the Asbury Park Press.
The author has merged his professional experience with education as well, teaching a nonfiction writing course to University of Pennsylvania students since 1999.
But with various notable experiences under his belt, Collingswood—and the memories Strauss formed here—remained influential enough to deserve mention.
Copies of Daddy's Little Goalie are available at Barnes & Noble Booksellers locations. Look for the memoir on the bookstore's front tables, among this month's other featured selections.
