Backyard Chicken Symposium

4-H TO HOST CHICKEN KEEPERS SYMPOSIUM

The State 4-H Small Animal Advisory Council will host a Chicken Keepers Symposium on Saturday, July 23, 9:00 AM-2:00 PM at the Camden County Cooperative Extension Office located at 1301 Park Boulevard in Cherry Hill.

This symposium is for urban & small flock chicken keepers, 4-H & FFA members, and anyone thinking about getting chickens or starting a flock. Topics that will be covered during the symposium include: The Basics of Chicken Keeping; Urban Chicken Keeping: Know the Rules; Youth & Poultry - A Wonderful Combo!; The Most Common Chicken Keeping Mistakes; How the Hen Lays Eggs & Why She Stops; and Poultry Nutrition – The Basics & Myths Debunked.

The registration fee for the Chicken Keepers Symposium, which includes lunch and program supplies, is $30.00. Pre-registration is required by July 11. Registration information is available on the New Jersey 4-H Website at: http://nj4h.rutgers.edu/smallanimals/chicken-keepers/

The 4-H Youth Development Program is part of Rutgers Cooperative Extension, a unit of the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station. 4-H educational programs are offered to all youth, grades K-13(one year out of high school), on an age-appropriate basis, without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, disability, atypical hereditary cellular or blood trait, marital status, domestic partnership status, military service, veteran status and any other category protected by law.
