More Unsettled Weather

How much more rain will we receive this week? Find out in the PatchCast for June 10-16.

As if Friday and Friday night's 3.82 inches of rain (at Philadelphia International Airport) wasn't enough, we have more shower and thunderstorm activity in the forecast for this week. It will be raining most of the day Monday, although there will be some dry periods here and there. Humidity will be more noticeable, too. Due to the clouds and showers, high temperatures will likely hold in the 70s. Also, don't be surprised if you hear a few rumbles of thunder during the day.

Tuesday will feature slight improvement, but the keyword is "slight." Showers and thunderstorms will be scattered rather than widespread, and temperatures should recover back into the 80s. Between Monday and Tuesday, another 1 to 2 inches of rain is possible, so I'm sure many of our lawns will need mowing by Wednesday (and you should be able to get it done then)! This rain is all courtesy of an area of low pressure that will park itself over the Great Lakes.

Weak high pressure will build in for Wednesday, so we'll enjoy sun and clouds, but it will still be a bit humid. An isolated shower or storm is possible, but most areas will stay dry.

By Thursday, another low pressure system, a "southern slider," will attempt to throw some rain and thunder into the Delaware Valley as it passes to our south. The farther south you live, the wetter you will get. The farther north you live, the drier you will be. As a result, it will be warmer in northern areas than southern areas.

High pressure moves back in for Friday, and I'll call it the pick day of the work/school week. Look for a mix of sun and clouds and low humidity with high temperatures near 80.

The first half of the weekend looks great with mostly sunny skies. There will be a few extra clouds around for Sunday and perhaps a brief shower or sprinkle, but still not a bad day.
