Showers and Storms This Week
When do the showers and storms arrive and how long will they last? Find out in this week's PatchCast!

High pressure will be moving offshore today, which will lead to stormy weather for the next few days. Today, however, will be a nice day with a mix of sun and clouds and a high near 70 degrees. The normal high for this time of year is 71 degrees, so that is right about where we should be for early May.
On Tuesday, a low pressure system from the Midwest will merge with another low pressure system in southern Canada between Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. Associated with this low pressure merger, a warm front will move through the area on Tuesday. Above this warm front, in the higher levels of the atmosphere, a disturbance will also move through the area and spawn some thunderstorms by the late afternoon or early evening hours. Assuming the sun stays out for a good portion of the day before the thunderstorms develop, we should warm up into the mid-70s, but if there is extra cloud cover it could be a bit cooler.
As a cold front moves through Tuesday night into Wednesday, more thunderstorms are likely under gray skies. The high on Wednesday will be in the lower 70s. On Thursday, a weak disturbance in the upper levels of the atmosphere could spawn a shower or two, and with a mix of clouds and sun temperatures should be close to normal, near 70 degrees.

High pressure will build in at the surface on Friday, but there will still be a weak disturbance in the upper levels, so I will keep just a 20 percent chance of a shower in the forecast. It will be a bit cooler on Friday with a high in the mid-60s. High pressure will finally build in aloft by the weekend, so the weekend will feature bright sunshine with high temperatures in the mid-70s.
