Weekly Weather Forecast: a Bit Unsettled
When will the weather dry out across the Delaware Valley? Find out in the PatchCast for August 20-26.

This week won't feature the best weather, but it won't be the worst either. We'll see a few showers and some thunder the first four days of the work week, but each of these days will have more dry periods than wet.
If you don't like heat and humidity, you won't have to deal with any of that this week. In fact, today will be the coolest day in the Delaware Valley in about a month.
Low pressure will be to our south and east today, August 20. This means that it will be a close call in whether or not we see rain today. Some computer-model guidance is suggesting a wedge of dry air will work into the Delaware Valley this afternoon, so we may see a few showers around this morning.

By the afternoon it looks like the shower activity will break apart and we'll be sandwiched between showers to our west and showers to our east. We may even see some breaks of sun this afternoon; however, I don't think we'll receive enough sunshine to warm our temperatures past the mid-70s because skies will still be mostly cloudy due to the rain nearby.
This means that today will be the coolest day since July 20, when temperatures in Philadelphia only reached 74 degrees.

On Tuesday, August 21, high pressure will try to build in at the surface, but there will be a disturbance in the upper-levels of the atmosphere to our west. This could cause a brief, spotty shower to develop during the day, but chances are that most of us will escape the day dry.
We'll still see plenty of clouds on Tuesday, but with a southwest flow aloft, this should be enough to warm our temperatures back into the low 80s.
On Wednesday, August 22, the upper-level disturbance will move through the Delaware Valley and cause scattered showers and thunderstorms to develop. Otherwise, look for a mix of sun and clouds and a high temperature near 85.
A very weak disturbance will try to move into the Delaware Valley late on Thursday, August 23, so perhaps a spotty shower could develop toward dinnertime. Before this occurs though, expect a mix of sun and clouds with a high of 85.
High pressure will set up over the east coast on Friday, August 24, which will give way to a warm weekend with just a touch of humidity. The high on Friday will be around 85 under a mix of sun and clouds.
As of now, your weekend plans are looking good! Saturday, August 25, and Sunday, August 26, will also feature a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the mid-80s.
