Unless the Collingswood Board of Education calls a special meeting, the tax rate will remain unchanged.

Districts throughout the state have been issued additional state aid funding, with receiving nearly $300,000.
The extra funds are exactly double the amount Collingswood received in a state aid increase .Â
Superintendent Scott A. Oswald said the district has not yet decided how they'll use the extra $296,935.

"The board of education does not meet until August," said Oswald. "At that time, the board will decide how it wishes to allocate the funding."
The state is pushing districts to use funds for tax relief, and has given them until this Tuesday, July 19 to change the tax rate.Â

But unless Collingswood Board of Education members call a special meeting before this Tuesday, the additional funds will not be going toward tax relief this year.
"The state is encouraging tax relief, but it is not being mandated," said Oswald Thursday afternoon. "We will review our current financial status and make the decision in the best interest of the taxpayers without shortchanging our programs."
Oswald said the district's additional $296,935 should be distributed over the course of this coming school year, along with its regular state aid payments.
