The Philadelphia Flyers have won the Vincent Lecavalier sweepstakes according to TSN analyst Darren Dreger.
The Flyers reportedly have signed the star center for 5 years, $22.5 million, which comes to a $4.5 million cap hit.
Vincent Lecavalier recently became the highest bought out player last week when the Tampa Bay Lightning exercised their right to use their compliance buyout on him. Lecavalier's cap hit was $7.7 million.
Vinny Lecavalier will essentially replace the fan favorite Danny Briere, who was also just bought out. Lecavalier is younger (by 2 years), bigger (by 6 inches) and has averaged more points per game (Vinny: 0.8 / Danny: 0.73) in the last 3 season; however most importantly he will come at a $2 million cheaper price tag per season.
Lecavalier played 14 season with the Lightning scoring 383 goals and 874 points in 1037 games.
