Outdoor Zumba Class to Take Over Borough

An outdoor Zumba class is coming to Powell Lane Aug. 2, and all are welcome to join.

Collingswood is taking the popular Zumba dance workout to a whole new level.

The borough will host a free Zumba class outdoors, at 7 p.m. Aug. 2. Held on Powell Lane, the event is open to those of all ages and fitness levels.

For one hour, Collingswood will dance its way to "Fresh Air Fitness," as part of its new, family-friendly monthly exercise series.

The new fitness incentive will hit the borough on the first Tuesday of each month, with the next class—also a Zumba event—on Tuesday, Sept. 6.

The August class will be led by Collingswood residents and Zumba instructors Emily Proudfoot and Stacey Tobe. Both women have experience hosting local Zumba classes.

"It's free, so really, you've got nothing to lose but a few calories," said Borough Communications Director Cass Duffey of the event. "These types of events are what Collingswood is all about. Getting out of the house and being able to enjoy something family-friendly and different—just about every week."

A Latin-based fitness program centered around dancing, Zumba has recently become a national favorite fitness regime.
