Third Fatal Shooting in Nearly 2 Weeks in Camden

The most recent occurred Friday night.

For the third time in a week and a half, there has been a fatal shooting in Camden.

The most recent one took place on Friday night around 8:39 p.m. when police discovered Angel Soltero, 55, of Camden, lying in the street near the intersection of Trenton and 9th streets.

Police were responding to a report of a person shot, Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson said Saturday morning.

Soltero was taken to Cooper University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at about 9 p.m.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing. No arrests have been made at this time.

The incident comes five days after 24-year-old Michael Burrell Jr., of Camden, was fatally shot on the 500 block of Jackson Street.

On March 23, Rafael Vicente, 18, of Camden, was fatally shot and crashed his car on Haddon Avenue.
