Volunteer Your Feet and Pedal Your Way Through Collingswood's Bike Rodeo
The first-ever Collingswood Bike Rodeo needs volunteers to help make the April 16 event a success.

For the first time, local group Collingswood Streets will host its Collingswood Bike Rodeo this April.
The purpose of the Bike Rodeo, as posted on Collingswood Streets' Facebook page, is to teach 5- to 12-year-old children correct bicycle safety and bike handling skills.
The rodeo is be a new feature this year, which will run during the borough's annual 2011 Green Festival. This year, Collingswood's third-annual Green Festival will run along Irvin Avenue, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Saturday, April 16.

But because this will be the Bike Rodeo's debut, the Collingswood Streets organization is seeking volunteers to help make the event a success.
Want to know if you fit the bill to become a rodeo volunteer? Those interested who meet the following requirements should contact Collingswood Streets.

Volunteers, according to Collingswood Streets, should also be willing to join the group's committee and able to help plan this year's event. Those who are experienced bicyclers are welcome to volunteer. Another ideal volunteer—bicycle mechanics. Any interested volunteers who double as League-Certified Instructors (LCI) are urged to volunteer—as Collingswood Streets will need LCI's on-site during the event.
Collingswood Streets' Facebook page is actively searching for volunteers, via posts like this one:
"The Collingswood Streets group is looking for teenagers and people in their 20s interested in bikes, cycling and community organizing to join our planning committee for the Bike Rodeo on April 16th," reads the post. "Peeps of all ages welcome, but we want young folks to know they are valued and welcome. Pass it on!"
According to Collingswood Streets, event organizers will be using a Cornell University safety professional's guide during the rodeo, titled "Organizer's Guide to Bicycle Rodeos." The handbook-type guide, as originally linked on Collingswood Streets' Facebook Page, can be found here.
Those interested in volunteering are asked to contact Collingswood Streets founder Stella Bonaparte at punkbottlecapper@yahoo.com.
