1 DWI, 5 Drug Arrests Reported In Cranford

Cranford Police reported making 6 arrests on drug-related charges and driving while intoxicated last week.

CRANFORD, NJ — Cranford Police reported making six arrests on drug-related charges and driving while intoxicated last week.

Cranford Police Blotter:

On July 19 at 12:26 a.m.: A 2000 Jeep was stopped on Jackson Drive near Commerce Drive when the driver failed to signal a turn. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Daniel Donnerstag arrested two passengers, Andres Gonzalez, 44, of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and Nicholas Longo, 25, of Roselle Park for suspected heroin and oxycodone located inside the vehicle. They were both charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, processed and provided with superior court appearance dates. In addition, the driver was issued motor vehicle summonses for maintenance of lamps and failure to signal a turn.

On July 20 at 9:55 a.m.: A 2006 Acura was stopped on Centennial Avenue and Hayes Street for not signaling a turn and a view obstruction. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Corey LoForte arrested a passenger, Ivan Irizarry, 38, of Newark for suspected heroin and Xanax pills located on his person. He was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of prescription legend drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, processed and provided with a superior court appearance date. In addition, the driver was issued motor a vehicle summons for a view obstruction.

On July 20 at 3:30 p.m.: A 1997 Lexus was stopped on North Avenue East for a view obstruction. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Ryan Gerrity arrested the driver, Amanda Bem, 28, of Elizabeth for suspected marijuana located inside the vehicle. She was charged with possession of under 50 grams (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia, processed and provided with a municipal court appearance date. In addition, she was issued motor vehicle summonses for a view obstruction, no valid insurance card in her possession and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

On July 21 at 12:24 a.m.: A 2001 Ford was stopped on South Avenue East near Lincoln Avenue East because the operator was using a cellular device while driving. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Michael O’Neil arrested the driver, Guiseppe Porciello, 21, of Iselin for suspected marijuana located inside the vehicle. He was charged with possession of under 50 grams (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia, processed and provided with a municipal court appearance date. In addition, he was issued motor vehicle summonses for using a cellular device while driving and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

On July 21 at 2:20 a.m.: A patrol unit was flagged-down for a suspicious vehicle on South Avenue East near Lincoln Avenue East. The vehicle, a 2005 Buick, was stopped shortly thereafter. Following an investigation at the scene, Patrolman Christian Pasternak arrested the driver, Austen Henry, 51, of Union for driving while intoxicated. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, processed and provided with a municipal court appearance date. In addition, he was issued motor vehicle summonses for obstructing traffic, a seat belt violation, maintenance of lamps and unclear plates.
