2 Cranford Men Arrested For DWI: Police

A Mountainside man and South Plainfield man were also arrested for heroin and cocaine possession in a separate incident, police say.

CRANFORD, NJ — Two Cranford men were arrested recently for driving while intoxicated in the borough, police report.

Cranford Police Blotter:

On Feb. 67 at 2 p.m.: A 2014 Honda was stopped at the intersection of Arlington Road and E. North Avenue for a seatbelt violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Christopher DiFabio located Heroin in possession of a passenger, Victor Troiano Jr., 26, of South Plainfield. Additionally, Ptl. Difabio located cocaine on the driver, Anthony Faraone, 29, of Mountainside. Troiano Jr. and Faraone were arrested for Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance(Cocaine and Heroin) and Possession of Paraphernalia, processed, and released pending an appearance in Superior Court. Both were issued motor vehicle summonses for failing to wear seatbelts.

On Feb. 7 at 7:15 p.m.: Patrol Units responded to the area of E. North Avenue and Springfield Avenue for a report of an erratic motorist. Ptl. Timothy Handy conducted a motor vehicle stop of a 1999 Dodge, and following an investigation at the scene determined that the driver, Robert Brunton, 48, of Cranford was driving while intoxicated. Brunton was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, processed, and released to a family member pending a Municipal Court Appearance. Brunton was issued motor vehicle summonses for reckless driving, failure to exhibit documents, obstructing traffic, failure to use directional signal, and failure to maintain lane.

On Feb. 8 at 12:27 a.m.: Patrol Units responded to the area of Centennial Avenue and E. Lincoln Avenue for a report of an erratic driver. A 2010 Honda was stopped at the intersection of Centennial Avenue and Elm Street for a lane violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Michael O’Neil determined that the driver, Collin Mayer, 27, of Cranford was driving while intoxicated. Furthermore, Ptl. O’Neil located marijuana inside the vehicle. Mayer was arrested for Possession of Marijuana(under 50g); Possession of Paraphernalia; and Driving While Intoxicated, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court Appearance. Additionally, Mayer was issued motor vehicle summonses for careless driving, failure to maintain lane, and possessing a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.

On Feb. 9 at 11:19 p.m.: A 1996 Buick was stopped at the intersection of W. North Avenue and W. Lincoln Avenue for a seatbelt violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Jason D’Agostino determined that the driver, Kenneth Matysek, 62, of Mountainside was driving while intoxicated. Matysek was arrested, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court Appearance. Additionally, Matysek was issued motor vehicle summonses for careless driving, failure to wear seatbelt, and failure to exhibit documents.
