3 DWI, 2 Drug Arrests Made In Cranford: Police

A total of 5 people were arrested last week in Cranford for charges including driving while intoxicated and drug possession: police.

CRANFORD, NJ — A total of 5 people were arrested last week in Cranford for charges including driving while intoxicated and heroin and marijuana possession, police reported.

Cranford Police Blotter:

On Jan. 18 at 3:17 p.m.: While conducting an unrelated follow-up investigation, Detectives encountered a suspicious occupied 2003 Ford in the area of Broad Street and Elm Street. Following an investigation at the scene, Det. Steven D’Ambola determined that the driver, Russell Keller, 54, of Linden was operating the vehicle while under the influence. Det. Dambola also located heroin on Keller. Keller was arrested for Possession of Controlled Dangerous Substance (Heroin); Possession of Paraphernalia; and Driving While Intoxicated, processed, and released to a friend, pending a Superior Court appearance. Additionally, Keller was issued motor vehicle summonses for possessing an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, reckless driving, and improper parking.

On Jan. 20 at 9:48 p.m.: Patrol Units responded to the area of Edgar Avenue and Richmond Avenue for a report of a suspicious person. Upon arrival units encountered the individual, John Kube, 30, of Linden. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Timothy Handy determined that Kube was operating a 1998 Kia while under the influence of alcohol. Kube was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, processed, and released to a family member pending a Municipal Court Appearance.

On Jan. 22 at 5:02 a.m.: A 2015 Honda was stopped at the intersection of E. South Avenue and E. Lincoln Avenue for speeding. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Timothy Handy determined that the driver, ClaytonBorges, 28, of Kenilworth was operating the motor vehicle while intoxicated. Borges was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, processed, and released to a family member pending a Municipal Court Appearance.

On Jan. 23 at 12:49 a.m.: A 2007 Honda was stopped on the Garden State Parkway exit 136 northbound ramp for an equipment violation. Following an investigation at the scene, Ptl. Timothy Handy located marijuana inside the vehicle. The driver, Chad Brown, 21, of Orange originally provided Ptl. Handy with a false name. Brown was arrested for Possession of Marijuana (under 50g); Possession of Paraphernalia; Hindering Apprehension; and Contempt of Court, processed, and released pending a Municipal Court Appearance. A passenger, Yaseen Salih, 20, of East Orange was also arrested when it was discovered he had active traffic warrants. Salih was released after posting bail. Additionally, Brown was issued motor vehicle summonses for failing to maintain lamps, driving while suspended, and having a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.
