Hello art and craft friends, the hand-cut profile predates the camera, and was a way to get an accurate portrait done without having to sit for hours.  There are only a few great silhouette artists in the world, you can still do the real art, by looking at you and snipping your pretty face or a loved one, and making it look like you.  But, don't worry, you can do a craft project that can look like the art, although it will not have the details or texture of hand-cut paper.  You can buy actually trace a shadow from a wall onto black construction paper, and cut that out.  Now, don't confuse this with the real thing, which is never larger than 5 x 7, but it is a fun way to decorate.  Another cute, crafty idea, is to cut shapes from magazines with a solid color of paper behind them.  YOu can get prized art, here is an example!  I actually drew these first, layering colored paper behind them and then added layers. You can do the same with your favorite photo.  Snip your heart fantastic, love Cindi Rose, silhouettesbycindi.com
