Active Life Fitness of Garwood is "fired up" for its Grand reopening on October 19

GARWOOD, N.J. — Active Life Fitness (ALF), Central New Jersey’s premier fitness venue for adults over 40, has reopened less than a year after a fire caused serious damage to its state-of-the-art gym. They invite the public to come to their Grand Reopening on Wednesday, October 19, between 6:30pm and 8:30pm. Now located in the Blue Ribbon Shopping Center at 94 North Ave., ALF is fully operational and offering its signature training program to existing and new customers with convenient hours six days a week.

“We are thrilled to continue living our dream of changing people’s lives through exercise and nutrition,” said Kim Musikant, co-owner ALF with her husband, Marty. “Although the fire tested our mettle, we never thought about giving up. We knew too many people in our community needed our help to get healthier, stronger and more active.”

ALF’s stylish new gym features all brand-new strength-training equipment and the latest tools to improve mobility, endurance and body composition. An indoor turf section accommodates large group coaching classes and provides ample space for warm-ups and drills. ALF’s program is geared toward active adults seeking to stay fit and mobile into their later years, and who want a more personalized experience than a traditional fitness club can offer. Each client is assessed for individual fitness goals, and is then given a comprehensive training program that includes semi-private personal training and unlimited access to ALF’s exclusive Metabolic Conditioning and Complete Strength classes.

“What sets our program apart from health clubs and other training studios is we specialize in training people over 40, but also, we offer exceptional value with our all-inclusive model,” Marty Musikant said. “Our members receive a personalized program, semi-private training, access to large group classes, nutritional guidance and unlimited visits all for one monthly fee.”

ALF’s small and friendly setting also allows for more individual attention, which leads to better results, Kim Musikant said. “Many people walk into a big gym, and they don’t know where to begin,” she said. “Our approach is much more personal and takes into account each client’s specific needs, as well as their health concerns. Both Marty and Kim Musikant are longtime fitness professionals, having worked with clients ranging in age from 10 to 85. In addition to their credentials from the National Academy of Sports Medicine, National Strength and Conditioning Association and others, they are certified as Functional Aging Specialists by the Functional Aging Institute.

Prospective members are invited to schedule a free, no-obligation strategy session in which they can meet with Kim or Marty to discuss their fitness goals, as well as their overall health and nutrition. During the session, they also take part in a Functional Movement assessment to screen for movement imbalances, asymmetries, and other limitations. This initial meeting is used as the basis for each member’s custom-designed program.
