Alleged Drug Deal Busted Up By Cranford Police

Detective Spencer Durkin made two arrests after witnessing transaction, police said.

CRANFORD, NJ - A Cranford police officer witnessed a suspected drug transaction which led to a pair of arrests on Dec. 6, authorities said.

Detective Spencer Durkin witnessed a suspected drug transaction between the drivers of a 2009 Acura and 2003 Chevrolet in a parking lot of a business on the 300 Block of North Avenue East, police said.

Durkin stopped both vehicles and following an investigation at the scene arrested Matthew Dippold, 35, of Hoboken, for distribution of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of suspected oxycodone and possession of suspected THC oils, police said.

He also arrested 35-year-old Jacquelin Remo, of Old Bridge, for possession of suspected oxycodone and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

They were both processed and provided with Superior Court appearance dates.

In addition, $2,436 in currency was seized from Dippold as a result of the crimes, police said.
