VANGUARD MEDICAL GROUP OF CRANFORD GIVES BACK TO LOCAL CHARITIES IN CELEBRATION OF 10th ANNIVERSARY
Three local charities were the beneficiaries of a total of $1,000 in donations made possible by Vanguard Medical Group of Cranford (formerly Cranford Family Practice), a patient-centered family practice, and their guests who attended a “Thanks Giving Day” open house held on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at their Cranford office. Each of the attending guests selected a charity to receive the gifts. The charities receiving the donations were the United Way of Greater Union County Hurricane Sandy Community Recovery Fund, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society–New Jersey Metro Chapter and Cranford High School Class of 2013 Project Graduation.
“Our Thanks Giving Day was very rewarding and special,” said Robert Eidus, M.D., president of Vanguard Medical Group. “The event was a success for two reasons; it gave us an opportunity to share our 10th anniversary with our patients, civic groups and local businesses, and the monies raised allowed us to give back to the community that has been so good to us since our inception.”

The donations will be given from Vanguard Medical Group of Cranford to the three charities based on the guests’ selections, including United Way of Greater Union County Hurricane Sandy Community Recovery Fund, which will receive $500. On May 23, $300 was presented to Karen Drzic, executive vice president of development of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society–New Jersey Metro Chapter, and $200 was presented to Cranford High School Class of 2013 Project Graduation parent representative Lisa Patella.

There was something for everyone. The open house included complimentary blood pressure screenings, pedometer giveaways and roses for moms in honor of Mother’s Day. Matthew Giangrante, M.D., the newest member of the Cranford team, gave the guests a preview of “Americans in Motion — Healthy Interventions,” and Dawn Howell, nurse practitioner, acquainted the guests with her clinical interests: medical care of children, adolescents and women. Vanguard Medical Group’s open house also attracted some local dignitaries.
“Cranford is a wonderful community to live and work in and it is truly rewarding to celebrate businesses that make our community great,” said Thomas H. Hannen Jr., mayor of Cranford. “We are honored to be part of Vanguard Medical Group’s anniversary celebration as they have been an important part of the fabric of our town for a decade and have touched our lives, and we wish Dr. Eidus and his team many more decades of anniversaries.”
“It is always rewarding when a chamber member reaches a milestone,” added Eugene Matics, president of the Cranford Chamber of Commerce. “Dr. Eidus and his staff are Chamber members whose work and dedication provide services to many in Cranford and its surrounding area. Their gesture of helping the three charities as part of their anniversary is a testament to their great work. We celebrate them.”
