NJ565
The title of this blog may seem a bit mysterious so let me explain. There are 565 municipalities in New Jersey, ranging from the largest in population; Newark, to tiny Tavistock, with only five residents.
We live in a very visual society. Photographs and videos are primary ways we learn and explore, but there are also very interesting sounds we might not notice because the visual overwhelms what we hear.
Within the small area that makes up New Jersey there's an incredible amount of diversity in just about every way you can imagine. As a radio guy I'm very focused on sound.

What I hope to do is to introduce you to New Jersey in a new way; through its sounds. In the months ahead I plan to give you an audio tour from High Point to Cape May. I'll be trying to find unique sounds that in some way represent each town. Some will be recordings I'll make as I travel around the state. Others will be historic recordings from special events and people from New Jersey.
With each one of the sounds I'll also tell you a little about what you're hearing. Some sounds and stories will be recognizable, others will be surprising. All, I hope, will be fun to hear.
