Hillside Avenue School Has Plan to Cover Assistant Principal

In order to fill the gap in work flow created when the Board of Education eliminated the a the board created a supervisor position, approving the 12-month stint at a meeting Monday.

Assistant Superintendent James McLaughlin stressed that the supervisor is not a new salaried position, merely a transition from a 10-month to 12-month position. McLaughlin announced that Doris Cudworth, a Supervisor of Fine Arts and Applied Technology, will assume the additional job requirements.

Cudworth will help the principal perform duties such as supervising classroom instruction, handling some administrative duties, coordinating custodial, cafeteria and other staff, assisting in student discipline and monitoring student attendance.

"She will continue to perform some of the functions she did previously in addition to the Hillside position," McLaughlin said. He added that she will be working at the same salary rate as last year. Her salary will be $114,332 and she will earn a stipend of $2,250. 

"This particular supervisor is basically at the same rate, but moved from a 10-month to 12-month position," McLaughlin said, adding that it was extended two months, from September 1 through June 30, so the supervisor will be able to assist the principal during the summer of 2011.
