Handmade, Vintage, Gourmet & Antiques? YES, please!

Rahway is fast becoming known for its arts scene and I'm lucky enough to be right in the heart of it all. Follow my blog for an insider's perspective on arts & cultural events, dining, and more.

One thing I love about my job in Rahway Arts District is meeting talented artists and craftspeople and getting to learn about their creative passions. In my travels and conversations, I've gotten to know a policer officer who is a trained visual artist, an ecologist who knits beautiful wool wearables, and a business woman who jars her family's special recipes, among many others.

On Saturday, April 20, 10am to 4pm, Rahway Arts District presents ARTISTS' FLEA, a curated market of handmade, unique, and one-of-a-kind items from 20 makers and sellers. Local artisans and small business owners from NJ, NY, and PA will showcase an exciting array of goods, from original fine art to handmade jewelry, vintage finds, upcycled products, and gourmet foods.

ARTISTS' FLEA will be held inside the Rahway YMCA gym, 1564 Irving Street in Rahway NJ, four blocks from the Rahway train station. Free shopper parking is available in the YMCA parking lot adjacent to the building. Admission is free.

ARTISTS' FLEA will feature a wide variety of unusal merchandise. An example of the kinds of unique items buyers can expect to see include hand glazed earrings, original paper cut designs, screen printed stationery and cards, vintage clothing and accessories, crocheted wire and glass beaded necklaces, handmade soy candles and soaps, vintage posters, and delicious baked goods.

Soup or Dogs food truck will be stationed outside of ARTISTS’ FLEA, featuring specialty soups and hot dogs. Inside the market, Kim’s InTheMix soul food café will be selling specialty cakes by the slice and hot coffee. There are also nineteen restaurants and eateries serving lunch within easy walking distance of the market.
